TREATMENT

The initial session begins with an intake that involves talking about all aspects of your health, past and present.  What are your goals?  What are your challenges?  Once I have a clear understanding I will take your pulses, which means I feel your pulses at the radial side of the wrist.  This allows me to feel the 12 meridians in the body.  I will also take a look at your tongue, which is a window as to what is going on inside.  From here, I create an overall strategy and one for the day using acupuncture and Jin Shin Jyutsu.  I combine the two modalities as I feel they each have their own strength.  Jin Shin Jyutsu releases the emotions and trauma of the past and Acupuncture moves the qi to facilitate healing.  Together the two allow for a more complete treatment:  healing the chronic and acute, the past and the present, the root and the branch.  Other treatments used include herbal medicine, nutrition, moxibustion, bodywork and essential oils.

No, acupuncture should not hurt. A momentary poke is sometimes felt around the needle as it is inserted, and can create a dull pressure or tingling around the area during the treatment. Most people fall asleep or go into a very relaxed state.

Every person responds differently.  I typically see patients once a week until the symptoms improve, and then I start spreading out the time between treatments.  The goal is for the patient to need a session only periodically.

Absolutely.  Jin Shin is a wonderful treatment on its own, or complimented with herbal formulas.  I have many children/teens that choose this option.
