Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, originating approximately 4000 years ago. It is one of the oldest continually practiced medical systems in the world. This ancient art of healing involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body. Acupuncture works with the natural vital energies of the body to promote its ability to heal itself. The goal is to arrive at the root cause of the imbalance causing distress to the system. Once the block of energy is removed and the balance between the pathways is restored, the body will regain its harmony and issues will be resolved.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese Healing Art which harmonizes the body, mind and Spirit. It utilizes a form of light touch on 26 specific locations on the body called Energy Locks. These energy locks tap into the 12 energy meridians. By selectively placing hands on the various sacred sites, we can harmonize or release the affected energy pathways. This will allow the body to reestablish balance and begin to heal at the deepest level of the system.
Chinese herbal medicine is an ancient, highly elaborative system of natural healing which uses medicinal substances in the promotion of health or in the treatment of disease. These substances include plant parts, minerals and may include animal products. They can be given in many forms; teas, tinctures, capsules or granules. Herbal medicine is a wonderful complement to the acupuncture treatment as it allows the treatment strategy to continue in between session which will expedite results.
Dietary recommendations based on Traditional Chinese Medicine are invaluable in readjusting the balance of the system either for restorative purposes or to correct improper function. Each recommendation is based on the individual need of the patient. A selection of foods is suggested based on the strength or weakness of the meridians and the constitution of the patient. Adding in various foods/spices is a wonderful complement to the acupuncture treatment as it allows to ongoing support of the treatment strategy.
